It all started in 1955 with Founder Alfred R. Franz and 10 employees at the location of a former experimental electroplating facility. Soon after, additional galvanic procedures such as Bright Chromium – and zinc plating where introduced into the production process, and our facilities had to be expanded with several new production halls. In 1967 Wolf-Dieter Franz took over the family business and determinedly formed a model company in the electroplating industry.
As early as 1969 the first automatically controlled electrocoating line went into production. Since 1993 we can coat magnesium, since 1996 plastics on high volume computer controlled lines.
Today we are able to offer many different techniques of coating and plating, be it on plastics or metal, to our customers. On top of that, we offer further methods of treatment: grinding, electropolishing, blasting, varnishing and laser lettering – all in combination with electrocoating, catering for the needs and demands of our customers.
This heavily extended product range and the increase in volume required us to plan for new production facilities and look for new partners. Our spin-off ALUCOAT, located in Crinitz in Brandenburg, specialises in hardchromium and lubricant plating. The rather labour-intensive works of grinding and polishing of parts is performed by a company in Bosnia-Herzegovina. Strategic partnerships like this allow us to produce cost effectively on the highest level of quality.
That is how our expertise in developing modern process engineering combines with cost effective production. Necessary for us, as we serve customers from Brazil in the west to Taiwan in the east. About two thirds of our production go into export, our gross revenue doubled since 1990.
No reason though to lean back complacently with 50 years of company history. We still have visions for the future!
